What people are saying about The Steve Hillage Band

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Steve Hillage gig is a music healing experience I went to see Steve Hillage at Shepherds Bush and in Brighton with old friends, by the end of the gigs everyone in the room was our friend. There is no better psychedelic band in the world, (only Gong who are actually part of the Steve Hillage band). A Steve Hillage gig feels like a very special spiritual occasion where all the negative and depressing things of the world are synthesized and triumphed over. The colours of the sounds, the love of the people, and of course the tremendous virtuosic musicianship of Steve Hillage, Miquette Giraudy and the excellent Gong band flowed over us and made us dance and sing. Only let down are the vocals at times, I so wanted to sing Om na na shivaya on stage with them correctly! An ear piece and a vocal coach would sort this out and hoping someone will advise him of this. However apart from the odd vocal glitch, the musical and emotional experience of going to see Steve Hillage is like a visit to heaven when you have given up all hope on life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible venue, didn't get what I paid for This is a poorly designed venue for the number of people that were attending and we were among a number of people trying to get a view through a door from the bar. The bands sounded good, but I might as well have been watching on TV.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A let down I went to this event with my brother and friends after being a fan in the late 1970s and having seen him then and having bought all of his output from this classic period. He’s a great guitarist and many of his previous backing bands and live records are great. Unfortunately the sound at this gig was very poor and muddy. The guys on the mixing desk did not seem to try to balance the instruments until at least 6-8 songs in and by then it was too late! Gong’s sound as a support band were simply awful. Found the venue hard to get to. On this evidence, will not be returning!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Steve Hillage Gig at O2 Academy Liverpool The gig itself was OK but nowhere was it mentioned in advance that there was no seating. I am 63 and have trouble standing for long periods so found it physically challenging to enjoy the gig really

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took me back 35 years Excellent gig - shows that the big names of the past can still overpower most current acts. Gong new lineup had right feel but needed a female input plus some slower / less rock based numbers to match up to the classic Gong. Good backing band for Hillfish though. Big crowd of mixed age that loved it - 2 encores Definitely worth going

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful example of bands that have kept on going still delivering. I went to this gig hoping it would be ok. I was really pleasantly surprised. The current incarnation of Gong were bright, hard and modern. Almost flashy with exceptional musicianship. Steve Hillage Band was Gong + Steve and Miquette G. Top quality . No spoilers people, except for great fun, great music, great songs. Enjoy the rest of the tour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best gig for a long long time First saw him play about 42 years ago but Steve played with all the finesse and feel from all those years ago. Still showed why he was in Bob Harris's top 20 best ever guitarists
