What people are saying about The Woodentops

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woodentops on top form! Rolo McGinty and band were on top form with excellent versions of tracks from Giant through to the recent Granular Tales. Not to be missed and fully deserve greater recognition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great band, great support act in The Jazz Butcher An amazing line-up, as the second support act was Pat Fish (the Jazz Butcher), performing 9 songs solo, drawing on a rich back catalogue, but also including some new material; “Shame About You” slipped free from its jangle-pop origins and because altogether more powerful; and Pat closed with a very new song “Never Give Up.” The Woodentops launched the gig with a brilliantly sharp version of “Good Thing”; I don’t know the current drummer’s name, but he nailed those fills towards the end. Rolo was a committed and engaging performer as ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Night! It's been a long long time since I last saw The Woodentops and they didn't disappoint. Great night, great venue, great crowd and 3 great acts!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Surprisingly awful. As a fan of this wonderful band I was very dissapointed to see it was a stripped down version of the band. They are famous for their excellent drummer and keyboard player; both of whom were absent. The new drummer wasn't anywhere near as driving as Paul Ashby. We walked out after 4 songs. A few months before, we saw the full band play a fantastic set at Rock City in Nottingham.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing gig from one of my favourite ever bands The Woodentops played an intimate show featuring their classic Giant album in its entirety, plus a few other gems thrown in for good measure.
