A superb first outing for the new album.
Two hours drive home from The Cutlers Arms in Rotherham after watching This Winter Machine embark on their tour to promote the new Tower of Clocks gave me alot of time to ponder just how good this band is.
I've been a big fan from almost the start and eagerly anticipated listening to the whole of the new album. Having heard some of the new songs in January i knew the album was going to be good but on what i heard tonight it's going to be even better.
After two heavyweights from the debut, The Man who Never Was and After Tomorrow Comes, the guys launched into 4 new tracks and finished the first set with The Wheel off the debut album.
Second set saw 5 new tracks, with, for me, the absolute standout being the phenomenal Delta. That has to be one of the songs of the year for me.
The set finished with Lullaby and Fractured from the first album and then it was over in what seemed the blink of an eye.
These guys deserve to be massive, huge musical talent combined with great songwriting and playing. What's more they are thoroughly nice people who enjoy what they do.
If you get a chance go and see them live, you won't be disappointed and Tower of Clocks is out late September.
