What people are saying about Tom Hickox

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a first class performer! I went to this gig with my Dad and a friend after my Dad had got me listening to Tom on YouTube for the last few months. I was really looking forward to it, and somehow my expectations were still exceeded; as well as being a fabulously talented singer / songwriter, he turned out to be an entertaining raconteur. I loved hearing the stories behind some of his songs, and as well as that he came across as a warm, funny, lovely human being. It was a privilege to enjoy an intimate performance with a relatively undiscovered treasure - can't wait till his next Edinburgh show!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tom Hickox never fails to delight. Lastest Music Bar was a nice intimate venue that showcased Tom's talents to perfection. His introductions to many of the songs are worth the entry money itself. And then you get the music. His deep, deep bass voice touches the depth of your soul and lingers there. He is a wordsmith, easily keeping company with Cave, Drake and Hawley. Every lyric explores strange new corners of this wonderful world. The man is a genius who sees the magical in the ordinary. A Korean woman faints near him, and in going to help, sees a life behind those eyes. Let me be your lover, a testament to true enduring love, not the twee rattled out by Hollywood. An old drunks ramblings in the Midlands becomes The Lisbon Maru, one of the finest and most haunting of songs ever created. The music was aided by the ever wonderful Shez. He compliments Tom, whose own skill with the piano is beautiful to watch. The songs were: Man of anatomy White Roses Red The pretty pride of Russia Dubbing Artist Angel of the North Out of the Warzone Thomas(?) Istanbul Lisbon Maru Perseus and Lampedusa Korean girl in a waiting room The plough A normal boy Monsters in the deep Let me be your lover This is a gig without highlights, because the whole time in that room was an example of greatness in action. After the show he took time to chat with the attendees, grateful for their support. This is how gigs should be.
