Good performances, great little venueIt wasn't really my kind of music but I enjoyed both performances very much; I thought they were both clearly very creative and I thought music and lyrics were interesting.

Great evening of live 'n' local music.A great thing about having children now grown up is treating myself to a night out, and I knew Julia Harris was a talented singer songwriter, so I took the chance on this event. It turned out to be a double bill of talent; Carolines are definitely a group to watch out for. Loved the clever vocals and skillful guitar playing almost like another voice. Julia pulled powerful riffs and bass-like rhythms from her acoustic guitar backed up by husband, Ben, on the cahon. The venue was intimate but the depth of sound of both acoustic sets, though strong and foot tapping, did not overwhelm the space. With plenty of humour, especially around tuning guitars, and sharing the inspiration for each song, I think the musicians enjoyed it as much as the crowd. With glimpses into their lives and stories, it felt like we got to know them a bit as well as their music. Really upbeat refreshing evening. Just what I needed.
