One of those nights that will stay with me!
I had only heard one track from Western centuries. Didn't want to hear more as I prefer seeing new bands live. The cluny2 in Newcastle is a small but intimate venue that can really test a bands mettle.
They opened with the "weight of the world", that was just a taster of things to come, and boy did they come! Song after song, each one beautifully crafted and a few tongue in cheeek, especially the broken hearted ballad of Powers Irish whiskey!
The members of the band seemed to be enjoying themselves with much banter to and fro with the audience that numbered about 50 - 60 ( I said It was intimate)!
The evening just flew over, as all good gigs tend to do, with not one song dipping below the high standard of their craft. This is a tight professional group of guys whose talent just oozes out of every pore and mesmerises you with their sound. Some songs sounding very much like early eagles albums, ( meant as a compliment). With beautiful harmonies and individual singers in their own right, this was a taste of country brush to the Tyne.
This is one gig that people will talk about for a long time to come, and when these guys are playing venues like the Sage Gateshead, I know that there will be those in the audience saying, "I can remember first seeing these at".......
