What people are saying about Ian Hunter & The Rant Band

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 'Allo, 'allo, 'allo! Ian Hunter must surely be the most under-appreciated British songwriter of the past thirty years. Albums such as the eponymous Ian Hunter, All American Alien Boy, You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic, Rant, and more recently When I'm President and his latest offering, Fingers Crossed demonstrate his craftsmanship. But, Ian Hunter is also a consummate live performer. With his brilliant Rant Band, few artists are able to grab and hold an audience as he does. On this tour Ian is showcasing not only his latest album, Fingers Crossed, but also a whole host of classics, many of them not heard live for many years. The Tramshed was the perfect venue, and Ian Hunter provided the perfect concert!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Friday Night Angels Something for everyone - several tracks from Fingers Crossed, some Ian Hunter classics, plus four priceless Mott the Hoople songs. All delivered with considerable style by Mr Hunter and a very impressive Rant band who provided great support and showed some virtuoso touches of their own. You gotta stay young man you can never be old - I don't know what his secret is, but Ian Hunter has cracked it. Also 2 good support bands that spanned the decades - Sittin Pretty and Graham Parker/Brinsley Schwarz. A great evening :):):)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ian Hunter - One of my favourite concerts of the year I went with my wife to the Leamington Spa Assembly rooms. A great little venue where we have seen Ian Hunter twice before. The Rant band are such a tight unit, brilliant interplay between Ian and the band. Great night of rocking good music as always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Vintage! Having enjoyed Ian Hunter's music since the early 70's I was really looking forward to the concert however the energy and enthusiasm of the band coupled with the quality of songs and musicianship far exceeded expectation. The Assembly Rooms in Leamington provided an intimate atmosphere and the sound quality was brilliant. My wife is exactly 5 Winters younger than me, so missed out on the early Mott the Hoople years., but she has now become a dedicated Ian Hunter and the Rant Band fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hunter doesn't get older, he gets better! I've lost count now of how many times I've seen Ian Hunter. His shows always have two things in common, you don't know what to expect but you know you're going to have a good time. His musicians are always solid, the band is always tight. You'd expect a man well into his 70s to be calming it down now but he's still up there going like a good'un. He doesn't get older, he just gets better!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy Birthday to me The first really wet night for what seemed like three months failed to dampened the crowd's spirits at this gig.It got off to a good start with a great support set from Sittin' Pretty, a young four piece blues-rock band ( guitar bass drums vocals) from sunny Bolton, highly recommended. After talking with them after I can say they were as good to talk to as they'd been enjoyable onstage. Ian Hunter and the Rant Band were excellent, with a selection of material from the new 'Fingers Crossed' album alongside old Hunter and Mott The Hoople favourites. I was surprised to hear 'Honaloochie Boogie' as I don't think I've seen him play it before, and it was good to hear his tributes to Bowie ('Dandy') and Ronson ('Michael Picasso'). The old rascal came back on for the encore and began to play 'Irene Wilde' but then went into 'All The Way To Memphis' , which made me laugh. And of course nothing would do to finish the show but 'All The Young Dudes'. Altogether, a good way to spend the night of a big birthday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ian Hunter still going strong! Having dragged my wife along to yet another Ian Hunter concert, I was delighted to find he and his band were in great form. Despite it being a miserable midweek evening, the crowd responded enthusiastically to both the new tracks off 'Fingers Crossed' and the many old favourites. I thought this spurred the Band on, and they all appeared to be having a good time. Long may it continue!
