What people are saying about Richard HAWLEY
Rated 5 out of 5 by bob roberts from Another outstanding performance Mr Hawley said he's known for his quite miserable songs. There was nothing miserable about this gig. A fantastic psychedelic rocker, loud and uplifting. The quite moments were ethereal and touching. Richard is a musical Skellig. What a way to spend a Wednesday night. Looking forward to next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lady Ruff Diamond from Brilliant stripped down Hawley experience As someone who has attended numerous Richard Hawley gigs over the last 8 years in lots of different venues I was looking forward to this acoustic performance ('just two old blokes and a couple of guitars' according to the man himself ) and I was not disappointed. Fibbers is one of those small music venues that don't exist much these days and was packed with the Hawley faithful. The evening kicked off with able support from Boss Caine who include a double bass and sax in the expanded line up and features a voice sounding like it's honed on Jack and Capstan full strengths. The Hawley set started with the opener from Trueloves Gutter As the dawn breaks which I've not heard live for a while and included goodies such as The Sea Calls, Lady Solitude and my personal fave Remorse Code , all of which have not been included in recent live outings and benefitted from the acoustic arrangements (which included a back beat at one point on a mobile phone !) Plenty of the usual Hawley banter in between and a guest spot from Clive Mellor on harmonica to wrap up things on Long Time Down finished a great set with the crowd demanding an encore - duly provided to round off the evening. Well worth the trip to York. As we left we spotted drummer Dean Beresford by the merch. Stand. Watch out Dean, they're replacing you with a mobile phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by French Hake from Consistently brilliant! This is the third time that we have managed to see Richard live, the first time was at a festival in Nottingham where despite a broken leg his performance left us as lifelong fans. But this Saturdays performance exceeded all expectations. The band were so tight and Richards lyrics plus his guitar work delivered beautifully. Richard Hawley is a national treasure - he is what the real music scene is all about in this country. Thank you Richard and band for a fantastic evening, looking forward to seeing you again soon. By the way some of us do originate from Gosport!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mandrew from All round rock solid performing Took husband and guitar-playing son and girlfriend. Both my son and I were already aware of Richard Hawley's guitar geekiness and solid playing having really enjoyed Standing at the Sky's Edge but husband and girlfriend blown away by power of both guitars and Hawley's smokey voice. Loved the lighting and backdrop effects too which added further dimension to each song.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jasonlush from A great night in Cambridge. A sunny day of autumn. An afternoon of walking among the students and the tourists in the charming Cambridge. The night is gently falling. I am at the Corn Exchange with my lover. Richard Hawley is playing and singing recent songs. Richard is singing old songs too. He is ending is concert with 'The Ocean', my lovers's favourite. A perfect moment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Somerset girl from Excellent stage show I went with my husband, a fairly recent Richard Hawley convert to the Guildhall, Southampton, to see Richard and his band. They played an excellent selection of songs and delivered a superb 2 hours of entertainment. Richard sings to the same high standard we enjoy on his albums.
