What people are saying about Richard Hawley

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Richard Hawley at Hoults Yard Music was amazing but venue was far too warm, felt faint and spent most of the gig at the back doors. Staff lovely and nice range of food vendors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning I have seen Richard Hawley on a number of occasions and he is always excellent. This was an acoustic good which was a bit different. His songs are beautiful whatever the arrangement. Also enjoy his banter between songs. A top night out

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant stripped down Hawley experience As someone who has attended numerous Richard Hawley gigs over the last 8 years in lots of different venues I was looking forward to this acoustic performance ('just two old blokes and a couple of guitars' according to the man himself ) and I was not disappointed. Fibbers is one of those small music venues that don't exist much these days and was packed with the Hawley faithful. The evening kicked off with able support from Boss Caine who include a double bass and sax in the expanded line up and features a voice sounding like it's honed on Jack and Capstan full strengths. The Hawley set started with the opener from Trueloves Gutter As the dawn breaks which I've not heard live for a while and included goodies such as The Sea Calls, Lady Solitude and my personal fave Remorse Code , all of which have not been included in recent live outings and benefitted from the acoustic arrangements (which included a back beat at one point on a mobile phone !) Plenty of the usual Hawley banter in between and a guest spot from Clive Mellor on harmonica to wrap up things on Long Time Down finished a great set with the crowd demanding an encore - duly provided to round off the evening. Well worth the trip to York. As we left we spotted drummer Dean Beresford by the merch. Stand. Watch out Dean, they're replacing you with a mobile phone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A disappointing evening I expected more from a Richard Hawley gig. The venue was too small for the number of tickets sold and we could not even get into the hall
