More Information about POP LEVI

POP LEVI - AN LA BASED, ENGLISH BORN ALL-ENCOMPASSING MUSICAL GURU! He is the progenitor of a unique breed of music that hit the walls of pop, bounces off, flies around the room and knocks into a generous helping of glam-rock whilst returning to punch you in the face and spit on your neck. Then generously offers you a glass of soul to wash it all down with!

It all started in Liverpool, where Pop was a founding member of post-rock outfit Super Numeri, though he also found work as an ice cream van driver and hair model. The band's early recordings got them signed to Ninja Tune Recordings, and their debut single "The Electric Horse Garden" and album Great Aviaries and EP The Coastal Bird Scene set the English underground fire, as you might say.
Yes, but just months later Pop was asked to join Ladytron on bass-playing,  and he duly accepted and spent much of 2003 and 2004 touring with them. He used his off-time wisely on these tours, by the way, writing and recording material for a planned LP, Foxwatch, to be released on the Invicta Hi-Fi label. While Foxwatch was never completed, it did produce the first real Pop Levi releases. His "RudeKinda Love" hit No. 25 on the U.K. indie chart, and the Christmas 2004 release "Reindeer in my Heart" reached U.S. airwaves.
Time passed, and the free-thinking, ruggedly individual Pop — a lover of palm trees, sunshine and infinite possibility — relocated to Los Angeles, where he recorded and released his album The Return to Form Black Magick Party on Ninja Tune/Counter Records in 2007, featuring the wicked "Sugar Assault Me Now"; 2008's single “DitaDimoné” was the BBC6 Record of the Week, and in August of the same year Pop released his second Counter solo disc Never Never Love.
2008 also saw the unveiling of Pop Levi's World Empire, Inc. film and music production company. In September, the 37th Festival Nouveau Cinema in Montréal held the world premiere of You Don't Gotta Run, a 37-minute featurette directed by Pop’s bandmate Lucky Beaches and starring one very cheekily charismatic Pop Levi.
Pop Levi once said, “I try and make the  most straight music with the weirdest twists." Thus it shouldn’t surprise that his early 2009 double A-side single "Police $ign/Terrifying (For Kenneth Anger)" was the UK underground hit that it was.
