The band behind UK chart top 5 political smash hit ‘Liar Liar’
Captain Ska were formed in 2010 when trumpeter / producer Jake Painter decided there wasn’t a big enough musical response to austerity and neoliberalism. Their brass filled fusion of Ska, Reggae and Hip-Hop has ever since been filling clubs, festivals and political events across the UK in what the band like to describe their “Protest Party” to get people thinking and dancing. The 8 piece band is comprised of some of London’s finest session musicians, often seen with the likes of: Paloma Faith, The Streets, Culture Club, Vampire Weekend, Kwabs, Rick Astley etc.
In 2017, the Captain Ska remix of ‘Liar Liar’ for the 2017 election soared to no 4 in the official charts week beginning 2nd June, and number 1 in the i-tunes chart. The tune attracted international news attention for being banned from all UK airwaves during the election even prompting comment from Theresa May.
Captain Ska have been featured on, BBC News, BBC Newsnight, SKY News, NBC News, Radio 5 live, Radio 4, ITV News, France 1, TV2 Denmark, Japan TV, Deutche 1.
