Respected as one of Australia’s iconic musicians, Ian Moss delivers an unforgettable sound – not only as a telling soloist on guitar but especially with his silken voice, ringing with clarity and resonating with pure soul. While primarily recognised as an axeman of tenacity and sweet melodic sensibility, Ian’s distinctive vocal is the essential signature of his soulful, bluesy muse – as it has been since his first tentative foray into music during the early 1970s.

Born and raised in Alice Springs, NT in the heat of Australia, Ian started playing guitar in local teenage bands but moved to Adelaide after failing one of his high school years, planning to repeat in the big city. Fate intervened when he answered an advertisement for a guitarist in a shop window in 1973, joining the band that was to become a legend in Australia and that made such an undeniable impact that they are now etched in the Australian music psyche forever. That band was Cold Chisel.

Moss has released six incredible and dynamic studio albums – The #1 and multi-platinum, Matchbook, Worlds Away, Petrolhead, Let's all Get Together, Soul on West 53rd and the self-titled Ian Moss

2019 saw the 30th Anniversary of the iconic and landmark album Matchbook. The album was released on August 1, 1989 and peaked at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It remained in the Top 10 for an incredible 14 weeks, shipping more than 200,000 copies in the first 12 months alone. The album went on to win Album of the Year, Best Male Artist and Breakthrough Artist – AlbumBreakthrough Artist – Single and Song of the Year (shared with Don Walker) for 'Tucker's Daughter' at the ARIA Music Awards in 1990.

In 2022, Ian hit the road for the 'Together Alone Tour' with Troy Cassar-Daley and played over 50 dates and festivals to sold-out audiences everywhere. In 2023, they continued the run as part of the 2023 Red Hot Summer Tour alongside Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins & Bernard Fanning, which added another 26 performances. These dates were followed quickly by Ian's first-ever UK Tour with his band, which included a sold-out show in London.

In July 2023, Ian released his seventh studio album Rivers Run Dry, that he co-produced with Brent Clark, who also engineered the album. Recorded over ten days at Rancom St Studios in Sydney with additional recording done at Oceanic Studios & Point Blank Studios, 'Rivers Run Dry is a musical feast displaying once more Moss' well-documented guitar-playing genius and that voice. Yes...that voice. It floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

The album's release was followed by concerts that covered Australia-wide and appearances at Airlie Beach Music Festival, This Is Livin' Fest, Queenscliff Music Festival, and a knock it out of the park performance at the Mushroom 50 Live concert at Rod Laver Arena.

Followed by his appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest will be the release of his first live album, “Live At The Enmore”, on vinyl. Captured during his Rivers Run Dry Tour, the live recordings showcase Moss at the top of his game feature a mix of classic Chisel tracks and solo hits, including "Rivers Run Dry," "Bow River," "My Baby," "Open Your Eyes," "Never Before," "Nullarbor Plain," "Tuckers Daughter," "Choir Girl," "Telephone Booth," and the first-ever Ian Moss and band live recording of the classic "Georgia on My Mind.”

As Cold Chisel's biographer Anthony O'Grady observed, "When Moss goes into guitar dream world he pulls out chords and notes and sounds that do not fit the plot as such, but which create new dimensions – astounding stuff that can never be reached through intellectual process, only through a quantum leap of intuition and imagination.
