Slik, Visage, Ultravox and his solo smashes! All the hits and genial chat from one of pop’s most enduring figures…
More information about Midge Ure tickets
Midge Ure’s 2013 show at ARC was a charming, warm celebration of his 35-year pop history... and the packed-out crowd that greeted him seemed to wholeheartedly agree! So we are delighted to welcome Midge back for a second instalment of genial chat and stripped-back performances of those legendary chart hits.
Over the course of almost four decades, Midge Ure has been one of British pop music’s most enduring and successful shapeshifters. Ever since his prototype boy band Slik hit the No 1 spot in 1976 with their teen-pop anthem Forever and Ever, he has been happy to explore wherever his musical curiosity takes him… from the electronic pop of Visage to the thunderous guitar attacks of Thin Lizzy; from anthemic chart-toppers with Ultravox to that unstoppable charity fundraiser with Band Aid.
Along the way he has stayed true to his mantra that a classic song can be stripped down to its bare essentials and still stand up to close inspection, and this heartfelt approach forms the basis of his intimate solo live show. From Visage’s Fade to Grey and Ultravox’s Vienna to solo hits like If I Was, this is a full retrospective of Midge’s extraordinary back catalogue.
And the story doesn’t stop there! 2012 saw the release of Brilliant, the first Ultravox studio album for 26 years, and since then the reformed foursome have been playing in arenas across the globe. But if you’d like a close encounter with one of pop music’s most distinctive voices in a more homely setting, then this is an evening not to be missed.
