The Jacksons: 50 Years Celebration
Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff.
This event is for over 14s only - No refunds will be issued for under 14s.
The legendary Jacksons will play the Motorpoint Arena on Sunday June 25 (tickets available from 9am Friday March 3) as part of their celebration of 50 years in the business.
Originally formed as the Jackson 5, The Jacksons built a tremendous reputation for their combination of extraordinary musical talent and spectacular choreography. First signed to Steeltown Records, the group soon found international success at Motown with the songs: I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save and I'll Be There. The group made history in 1970 as the first recording act whose first four singles reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They went on to score 17 top forty singles on the Hot 100, following with hits such as Never Can Say Goodbye and Dancing Machine. Their Motown recordings alone have sold in excess of 200 million records.
The Motorpoint Arena show is promoted by UK Regional Promoter of the Year Orchard Entertainment, whose director, Pablo Janczur said: "The Jacksons are one of the most popular groups in the history of music, with a repertoire of material that formed the soundtrack to so many people's lives, so we're thrilled to bring them to Cardiff for what promises to be a memorable night."
"We're excited to bring our show to Cardiff this summer," adds Tito Jackson, "The Welsh love their music and we can't wait to share ours with them!"
In 1976, the group left Motown for Epic Records where they continued their worldwide success with smash singles including Enjoy Yourself, Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground) and Can You Feel It.
In 1980, The Jacksons were honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999 as The Jackson 5. Listed among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's '500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll' are two of the group's songs I Want You Back and ABC at the annual BMI Urban Awards on September 8, 2008, where The Jacksons were honoured as BMI Icons. In 2016, ABC joined I Want You Back as the group's second recording to be inducted into the Recording Academy's Grammy Hall of Fame.
