DRILL: BRIGHTON

DRILL : BRIGHTON kicks off this week!

Organisers Wire and One Inch Badge have released a number of important details, including plans for the spoken word ‘Basement stage’, and running schedules for the whole festival.

The Basement stage, hosted by The Quietus, will include an afternoon of freely improvised electronic music from a range of musicians, talks from Swans' Michael Gira & Thor HarrisGoblin's Claudio Simonetti in conversation and a screening of Wire's live video "The Scottish Play".

DRILL will host over 100 acts from around the world in incredible intimate environments. The festival will take place 4th - 7th December at various venues across Brighton, with an official pre-party on December 3rd with Big Business and God Damn.

The four-day event will see a multitude of incredible artists performing, including Wire, SWANS, Savages, British Sea Power, Toy, The Wedding Present, Blood Red Shoes, Courtney Barnett, Gold Panda, These New Puritans, Young Fathers, The Wytches, Claudio Simonetti’s GOBLIN performing SUSPIRIA, MONO (JPN), East India Youth, Three Trapped Tigers and a one-off world exclusive collaboration between Wire & SWANS.

Today’s time schedule release shows just how intimate some of these one-off performances truly are, The Wedding Present at the 350 capacity Haunt, Gold Panda at the 240 capacity Audio, Blood Red Shoes at the 140 capacity Bleach and Wire & SWANS together in the intimate 500 capacity The Old Market, a truly rare opportunity to see some of the world’s most exciting, current and established acts up-close and personal.

Having previously created DRILL : FESTIVAL events in both London and Seattle, this is the biggest & most ambitious to date. It’s a way of exploring the impact Wire have had on groups from younger generations & also to give them the opportunity for the band to connect with both new & established artists whose work they find inspiring.
