What people are saying about Chapterhouse Theatre Company

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a love story told so beautifuly My daughter and I went to see wuthering heights whilst on our annual holiday to the isle of Wight. It was a magical evening in the grounds of a wonderful house. We enjoyed it very much . The actors made the story come alive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb performance, despite the dampness! We attended this performance of Sense and Sensibility at Dunster Castle, had travelled 100 miles and stayed overnight in a local hotel so that we could watch the show. The forecast was for heavy rain, the wind was gusting, there was light rain before and during the performance but were the cast discouraged? Not a bit of it! The show must go on! The actors were determined, their acting was first-rate, their diction and enunciation were so clear I could hear every word, despite the erratic wind! There was humour, pathos, music, a wide variety of emotions - and the script was close to the original, especially regarding many of the speeches! I did feel for the ladies in their thin summer dresses - but they performed as if it was a balmy, sunny summer's eve - even when their mop caps were blown off!! All of the cast played at least two parts in the story, but they managed to change and keep in role whichever part they were playing. I think Elinor was portrayed magnificently - although my favourite was Mr Parker who added a touch of levity, causing me great difficulty in controlling my mirth! Mr. and Mrs. Jennings were both admirable to continue in role when drawing the raffle during the interval! All in all an excellent performance - well worth the journey and expense - and we'll certainly look out for more performances by this company!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Atmospheric Peter Pan at Rutland Water My two children and I were looking forward to watching Peter Pan outside......the actors, stage, props and venue were all superb....however sadly the weather, as atmospheric as it was, was in the end deemed to dangerous to continue pasted the first half. What we watched was fantastic and I admire the actors continuing through the torrential rainstorm. Would definitely book and attend another event x

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed The play was not very well acted. There was no PA system so it was difficult to hear, particularly when the wind blew the trees. Also difficult to see as the stage was not very high and some of the action took place off the stage - we were near the back. There were no officials managing the seating of the audience. It did rain a bit and some of the audience put up large umbrellas making it impossible to see. the side gates to the veune were not open because that required more staff so for people walking it was a lot further to go to get into the area of the theatre. What I had expected to be a good and well managed performance was poor.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Peter Pan but not quite enough fairy dust The setting was beautiful and the weather held! I have seen this theatre company before but unfortunately this time was not as good as expected. The voice projection wasn't brilliant and it was difficult to hear the character's a lot of the time. The performance started promptly enough at 5.30 but did not finish until 8pm with a 15 minute break. Also guests were allowed to choose where they picniced but there were no restrictions on chairs at the front which meant the view was often obscured. It was a lovely experience but in future a shorter show length for children's performances combined with 'furniture restrictions' would be beneficial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outdoor theatre The play was an outdoor event in Liverpool held behind Liverpool town hall. Loved the small set and cast who retold the Sherlock story. Venue was a different and enjoyable experience. I would recommend to friends to book if the company visit the city again. Seating was provided which was great as we thought we had to take our own. Possibly could find a quieter outside venue in Liverpool, as the venue is so close to bars and restaurants, people enjoying the nightlife were a little interruptive towards the end of the play. But you can ignore these interruptions and it didn't ruin the overall experience of the play.
