Dinosaur Jr. Tickets
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sue1727 from Brilliant gig Went to the gig with my partner. He idolises the band. We have seen them every time they come into the country. Either the band or j on his own. This venue was brill!! The set was great. They played songs from early in their career right through to the latest album. Once again j didn't disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rich Hope from Best gig in a long while Excellent band, I've been a fan for more years than I'd like to admit to but this was the first time I'd seen them in over 20 years... they really didn't disappoint. The venue was an excellent choice for Dinosaur Jr; intimate enough to be close to the band but big enough not to get crushed, as the gig was sold out. I expected them to be loud and they were, very loud but the sound was so well refined that it wasn't painful to hear; I'd brought earplugs with me but didn't end up using them and had no hissing ear problems the next day. J, Lou & Murph gave us a real good mixture of old and new songs ranging from tracks from "You're Living All Over Me" to this year's "Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not" plus all the late 80's/early 90's classics such as Freak Scene, Start Choppin' and The Wagon. So how does the band of today (now once again in the original & best line up) compare to the band of 20+ years ago? Dinosaur Jr haven't cashed in on the nostalgia trip and are certainly not churning out half cooked versions of once great songs as per the also rans; instead they continue to innovate and create new songs and styles while still being able to deliver a storming set with the trademark raw edge of seering guitars, perched right on the knife edge of feeding back but being controlled and cajoled by the master that is J Mascis complete with his 3 stack amps. Lou Barlow's bass playing is unique and he also has a great voice in both backing vocals and the tracks he does lead vocals on, a very talented guy who kept on kicking it even when he unfortunately somehow lost his glasses in the crowd. Murph's drumming is defined, timely and relentless. His style obviously complements the band, as a 3 piece they have to be super tight, with his beats flowing seamlessly between the many rhythm and time changes within each song. Yes, they all look older (apart from Lou somehow, perhaps it's all the hair) and at times J bears more than a passing resemblance to a Wizard from Lord of the Rings but if I was forced to give an opinion, I'd have to say that the 2016 Dinosaur Jr is actually even better than they were 20+ years ago. Long may it continue, I'll definitely be back!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Marktt from The sound was awful I have seen Dinosaur Jr twice before and both times they have been exellent but very disappointed this time as both JMs vocals and guitar were overshadowed by the drums and bass He also did not apper to be comfortable on stage

Rated 5 out of 5 by alasdairedinburgh from Outstanding Best band on the road at the moment, also the most underrated for the talent each member has, including JM. New material superb, not often one can say that. Saw both the Liverpool and Leeds shows and booked for Glasgow. Do not miss.
