The Cobblestones, Bridgwater
Rated 5 out of 5 by Auldrockdad from Great Gig First saw Empire on stage last year when they were support band for INME and they blew me away. So when I saw they were coming to Glasgow as part of a UK tour, I bought tickets ASAP. Tickets were cheap too! The gig line up was 1st was Paradigm Shift an alternative rock band from Glasgow and they opened the show with an excellent performance. Really enjoyed their set, good solid sound and great vocal! Next up was another Scottish Band called Banshee with a female lead with fiery red hair and great voice. They were very good too and I would definitely recommend checking them out. Then came Chapter and Verse a band I have never heard of but will be definitely keeping track of now. Great set, super sound and on vocal Josh is fantastic. Their sound reminded me of Being As An Ocran, melodic and then crashing like a tidal wave of sound. Chapter and Verse are one to watch out for! Will absolutely be on the look out for them in the future!! Empire were next. And as ever they were just superb. They played tracks from both their albums and a new track which was brilliant. My particular favourite was Sparrows. Joe Green has an amazing voice. The band's sound is great big rock with smashing drums and they just blow you away. I can't wait for them to play bigger venues and in front of bigger crowds. They deserve every success. I am absolutely a huge fan. The album Our Simple Truths is fantastic every song in superb. If you have not got it. Get it. I guarantee you'll be glad you did. Nice n Sleazy as a venue isn't great. The room is wee and the roof is low but the performances of all the bands that night made it a great night.
