House of Illustration is the UK's only public gallery dedicated solely to illustration, with a creative programme of exhibitions, talks and events. Founded by Sir Quentin Blake and opened in July 2014 at the heart of the King's Cross regeneration area, it is the place to see, learn about and enjoy illustration in all its forms. Comix Creatrix: 100 Women Making Comics is the gallery's latest exhibition, is the UK's largest ever survey of the work of pioneering female artists working in the comics medium. Comix Creatrix presents the work of 100 innovative creators and debunks the myth that women have a limited stake in the world of comics. Highlighting 21st century work by British creators, the exhibition will also recognise ground-breaking works from the 19th and 20th centuries, and will highlight the influence of international practitioners on the British scene. Visitors to the gallery can then head across Granary Square to Grain Store and enjoy a bespoke lunch menu designed for House of Illustration visitors. At Grain Store there are no geographical boundaries to the influences that have inspired their eclectic menu - they are a culmination of Bruno Loubet's extensive travels and the years dedicated to his beloved vegetable patch. Although many dishes have a meat or fish element, the menu gives vegetables equal billing if not the starring role. Terms and Conditions apply; package is only valid on Tuesday - Friday dates between the 09/02/16 and 12/05/16. Entrance to House of Illustration must be between 10am and 1pm. Lunch at Grain Store must be taken between 12:00pm and 2:30pm. Customers must be aged 18 or over to consume alcoholic beverages, ID may be required. The above menu is a guide only, Grain Store can guarantee availability of specific dishes. Customers must book package and then call Grain Store, once they receive their booking confirmation to reserve their table. Customers must bring a copy of their booking confirmation with them to both Grain Store and House of Illustration to gain lunch and entry to the gallery.
