What people are saying about Laura Mvula
Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeremy bear from Very Special night .One of my best gigs ever She looked stunning with a blue florescent light coming off her tight cropped hair ,black dress and a white synth axe .The band .were very tight and they were having fun and.they envolked a warmth that night that was impossible to fake .2nd time I have seen her .Shes got more talent than anyone whos come on to the scene in the last 2 years and her music is completely original and un manufactured Her star is rocketing skywards .Summerset House look out .Shes going to set it on fire in July .So glad to have seen her before the gigs get massive and very expensive .The assembly Hall .is a superb intimate gig space and suited the night perfectly .Think she has just started touring the new material but there was nothing shakey at all. Support was good too a singer song righter called Tom Prior and a young black bloke playing a Strat and singing solo ,that I didn't get the name .Top Gig x

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lenny2016 from Tickets Sold Out everywhere except "See" for Laura Mvula, Leeds Laura Mvula with support acts played the Wardrobe on Saturday 14th May 16. The venue is small, so even standing at the back you can get an excellent view of performing artistes. The support act was good. Laura Mvula was extra-ordinary! She appeared on stage resplendent dressed from head to foot in white with a vertically long bindi occupying a central position on her forehead - echoes of Grace Jones. As hoped for the music was great and her songs thoughtful, interesting and in parts dam right foot tapping. The band line up was "different" with the normal bass, drums and keyboard plus harp, cello, violin included. Laura played a white keytar. The all female backing singers were fantastic, truly special. The bonus, the big pay-off, the added value was that Laura Mvula was FUNNY! She has us all laughing between songs. Her comedy was personal, even heartfelt - short (relevant to the following song) stories with huge visual imagery and massive punch line endings. My advice - pay the money and see her live.
