What people are saying about Liverpool Sound City

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Re-imagined? I dont think so. Whilst it was an OK gig, it wasn't really 'reimagined'. The venue itself it pretty bad, a gravelly car park with insufficient bars and nowhere to sit. For the price I was expecting quite a bit more. Like a seat maybe. The gig itself wasn't all that, it was John Cale going through the album but it was far from the multimedia/orchestral experience I'd expected. Particularly for that much money. I mean yes it was great to hear it and see him, but it was just him and a band knocking it out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great gig! great venue and service I went to see The Human League with my Sister-in-law and we loved it. They were just as they were in the 80's! My tickets hadnt arrived by the day of the gig! but SEE made sure they were at the box office for us that night & they were. Due to the need for high security, all efforts were there to make us safe and although a little uncomfortable to be frisked and our bags emptied and checked, it was not an inconvenience as we knew the reason for it and felt happy to oblige. A great night & experience, thank you

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The Kills The event had the potential to be great, but it was the site that let it down, it was a windy day and the site was a gravel/dirt patch, every time the wind blew it churned up all the dust and dirt and blew it right in the direction of the crowd viewing the main stage, I actually wished it would rain in the hopes that if the ground got wet it couldn't blow around so much. It was hard to enjoy the music as you had grit in your eyes and mouth and hair! We went to see The Kills as a treat for my Fiancé, we both enjoyed the gig, but left as soon as they finished as we just couldn't bear the venue any longer. Such a shame :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible venue Band great when they came on but venue dreadful, dirty and no seats anywhere not even grass to sit on. Time brought forward too so standing for hours with no info on when band would appear. Never again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from John Cale Reimagined, Disappointing The build up to the naming of the 'special guests' was misleading, we were led to believe they would be of the same calibre as the Paris gig. What we got were all unknown to us, some were not well rehearsed and towards the end two were getting drunk. A few of the 'special guests' were ok. This was meant to be a special surprise for my husband's birthday. I even went to the expense of VIP upgrades with the promise of: a nice area to sit; 'unrestricted views of the stage' as I'm under 5' tall I thought I'd be able to see (this was a fenced off portion of the crowd area where I still couldn't see); to see press interviews with the 'special guests' (there were no interviews); our own bar (which didn't even have chilled Coke without specifically asking for it); our own toilets (which didn't flush). Need I go on? If I knew where to go, I would ask for my money back. john Cale unfortunately wasn't anything special, he hardly spoke a word, didn't introduce the guests so we stayed in the dark about their identities. Lastly, after the support act (who didn't use any equipment except a mike) the stage hands spent a good hour getting the stage ready (why wasn't this already done?), the crowd were getting restless, then John Cale et al eventually came onstage, late, with no explanation. A very disappointing evening.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Velvet underground The experience was positive. The sound not that good. I hope for more craft beer in the future

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wasted opportunity This was a treat for myself, partner and nephew but was a big disappointment. We waited ages without a drink, because the queues for beer were massive and we couldn't sit on the hard ground. The sound was poor. John Cale did not introduce any of his guests, some of whom gave bad performances.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thursday and Friday nights Great Thursday with superb backing for Human League. Dubiously charging the price of another pair of tickets for simply being in the 'VIP' area??? Seats for a small proportion of those paying and no working loos??? VIP - the 'I' must mean idiotic as simply it meant you might get a seat and nothing else, though clearly they sold far more tickets than seats knowing the rubble and potholes would soon have you begging to sit.
