What people are saying about Lucy Rose

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb singer-songwriting in its own league: breath of fresh air. I've had my fair stash of singer songwriters invade my heart over the last 15 odd years and all of them have had their moment but none really ever last the tides of time. Let's face it - none of them are Emmy Lou Harris. I'm also a cynical and fairly jaded old boot from the music industry... So I was a more than a little sceptical when I realised I'd booked tickets based on hearing not that much of a radio interview and one song being played live in the studio. How wrong I was to even worry a nano-second as this girl has a truly beautiful vocal, a humility and genuine grace that makes the whole thing a spectacular and fairly jaw-dropping evening. If you're going to go and sit still and watch a performance - make it this one. If you want a beautiful album to play at home while doing whatever - make it this one. ('Something's Changing'). This is beautiful song writing and its rendition with a truly fine band: the sort of stuff that all live acoustic sessions should aspire to. The sort of evening and performance that commands a respect from the audience that no one talks through it - or talks at all even - and everyone sits watching - (and probably like we did) - hoping - it will never end... Veritably stunning and would go again and again to watch this woman do her thing. Self-deprecating too - but not in that painfully self-conscious way that comes across as a tad contrived and fey and that is really screaming a 'me me me-ness' that makes for slight nausea with some from this very over-stuffed genre. 5 *'s squared.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Captivating and Spine Chillingly Acoustic Evening from Lucy Rose The National Centre for Early Music at York was just the perfect venue for the spine tingling acoustics and pure voice of Lucy Rose. And boy did she deliver ! A beautifully crafted acoustic set made up mainly from her first two outstanding albums to date, and from a stage set up that felt as though you had been invited into the home of Lucy Rose. This, coupled with her natural charm and innocence, connected the audience in such a way that you could almost be forgiven if you thought you had just been round for a few drinks, songs and a chat with Lucy. The set list also previewed a beautiful new song with the working title 'Second Chance' and if this is anything to go by then the next album cannot come soon enough ! Lucy did say that that these were special one off acoustic gigs....I do hope she has a change of heart because I for one would be deeply disappointed should she not solo in the future. She is an undoubted talent and one to add to your must see list
