What people are saying about Our Ladies Of Perpetual Succour

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Utterly brilliant! It was a beautiful encapsulation of growing up, and captured the transition between being a child and an adult in an achingly poignant way but with charm and humour. The music was a brilliant reworking of ELO's timeless songs to create the soundtrack of their lives. Such a fresh approach for a musical and fabulous vocal performances by all the cast. I need to leave this now and see if I can get tickets to see this wonderful show again...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good songs but dialogue poor could not follow A very short messy show. Accents so strong never understood a word

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Different! This is not your ordinary musical. The warnings about bad language were valid. Apart from some dialect issues (the characters speak in a broad Glasgow accent) the play was easy to follow and very well acted, with some fine singing. It has a local feel about it; as if a group of friends decided to put on a show themselves but at the same time its professionally delivered and (most importantly) entertaining. The performance was enthusiastically received by the whole audience.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed! Artists obviously very talented, singing superb but did not enjoy performance. Bad language throughout which I didn't feel was necessary and storyline difficult to follow

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it I went with a good pal after missing the run at the National. A fabulous show, lively, colourful, with such talented young actors. Loved the filthy jokes and the bad language but sobbed at the pathos too. Great afternoon, I would go again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the finest shows I've ever seen So simple, so insightful. The performances were outstanding and I was moved to tears of appreciation.

★★★★ 'Sublime singing. Fizzingly vivacious. Exactly what the West End needs.' Evening Standard ★★★★ 'A sweary, funny brilliant breath of fresh air' Time Out ★★★★ 'Rude, raucous and irresistible' The Independent ★★★★ 'An absolute blast, full of filth and fury, wit and wonder. Exhilarating.' The Times Following sold out seasons at the National Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and UK Tour, the smash hit, award-winning new play Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour transfers to the West End for a strictly-limited season. From the creator of Billy Elliot (Lee Hall) comes the uplifting and moving story of six Catholic choir girls from Oban, let loose in Edinburgh for one day only. Funny, heartbreaking and raucously rude, Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour is adapted from Alan Warner's brilliant novel, and directed by Vicky Featherstone. Featuring the songs of ELO, Our Ladies is a glorious anthem to friendship, youth and growing up disgracefully. AGE RECOMMENDATION 16+. PREPARE THYSELF FOR: Really rude language, flashing lights, pyrotechnics, lots of sexual references, excessive drinking, and extensive use of the smoke machine.
