What people are saying about Platform Festival

Rated 3 out of 5 by from well organised First time at this event, will certainly be back - It was a lovely sunny day so got rather warm in the main arena which was not too good. Due to weather would have like more outside but due to venue and place this would not be possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quaint Quality Went specifically to see The Shires but was really impressed with the whole set up. Lovely intimate venue, reasonable choice of food at the venue but much more available in Poclington and a fabulous bar. A great venue and one which I will return to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very well organised 1st visit didnt know what to expect really, wasnt disapointed, easy free parking around venue, under cover if it rained, the opposite warmest day in the year ! , got a little stuffy, but u can always walk outside. Token system for drinks which were not to pricey , food options could of been better, mexican option ran out before 6pm, walked into Pock for other options, all pubs n restruants busy.Would of prefered to stay at venue to eat as the music didnt stop ! , Main reason we came was to see " the Shires " who were fantasic, sat 3 rows from front and felt they were singing to us !, was expecting them to be playing in the evening but turned out a 2.30 afternoon spot as they were moving onto 2 other gigs that day. If we had turned up later would of missed, one to remember for next time, may be the running order can be e mailed out a couple of days prior to event. To conclude, Fab day, frendly organsied event, will return.....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An almost-perfect one-day Musicfest A great concept, some terrific talent, a fantastic effort by a great team of volunteers and a friendly and buzzing atmosphere. Being able to dip in and out during the day/evening was a big bonus for us. Highlights (we didn't do the whole 10 hours) were Orphan Colours, the Shires, Daisy Allen, Danny & Champions of the World but miles in front was the one and only Gretchen Peters. What a legend and how great to have her back in Pock. A couple of downsides - folks, don't ever waste a second on the foul-mouthed, disinterested and talentless Badly Drawn Boy. I almost walked out. Also, the stewards should have got to grip with the noisy drunks at the back of the hall who repeatedly interrupted the headline act. Letting a screaming 5-year-old use the space right in front of the stage as a running/sliding play area should have been dealt with too. Minor quibbles - a fantastic event, highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not That good ! The bands and music where fab particular the "Shires" and Gretchen Peters, excellent!! Sadly, this year, that is where the good news ends !!!!!! I have to start with the Beer !!!! as any great music event it needs to be good! sadly it was awful, cloudy and badly produced. Just another micro brewery getting wrong !! only had 2 pints and had to drink wine. There are some great brewers around the area as well. Also, the quality of the sound and mixing was poor. I would not be surprised if the artists complain as well. Balance was all wrong. I know the aquatics are not the best in that old station building are not easy but really the sound deck could have working it better. My final comment would be that the attention to detail was missing with lighting in stage 2 nonexistent and staff taking loudly the back Overall Poor

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Pocklington Platform Festival plays all the right tunes Just visited the Pocklington Platform Just visite the Festival with my partner for the secound year running. We had a fab time just as good as last year if not better. Great diversity of music from established acts to up and coming. My favourites this year were Orphan Colours, Dunwells and Danny and the Champions of the world. Badly Drawn Bot was also good too. Earlier in the week went to see Lucinda Williams who was great and the awesome Pierce Brothers from Aussie who blew me away. We had great day at a great festival in a great town with great weather definitely coming back next year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bellow head, the Shires, Barcode Zebra and more on your doorstep We spent the afternoon talking to the bands who were sitting in the audience enjoying the experience with everyone else. Only let down by pretentious Bellowhead / faux folky fans who insist on dancing in crowded conditions, damaging feet and faces and telling the people around them to expect it as this is how people act at festivals ... no ...the majority of people were a delight to be around and more than made up for the idiot few . The food was exceptional and the multiple stages both indoors and outside made the festival organisation very slick indeed. Highly enjoyable day.
