Rated 5 out of 5 by Sime1086 from Poppies on form at great Midlands venue First time I'd been to the Robin 2 in Bilston and what a great venue it is. Great view, friendly staff easy to get too and super sound. Now to Pop Will Eat Itself, having been a fan since their inception but not having seen them since 2013 I wondered if they had lost any of their verve, they haven't is the answer in fact they took the stage and from the strains of dance of the mad until the encore of their law Graham Crabb and Mary Byker delivered a set full of new material from their latest anti nasty league album peppered with classsic like def con one, can u dig it, preaching to the perverted and chaos & mayhem. The crowd was bouncing the dance floor sweaty and the band really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Fuzz Townsend was back on drums for the night and really looked at home behind the kit. New material seamlessly blends with old proving the Poppies are still as relevant today as they were in 1987. Mary Byker fresh offf a storming tour with his own band @gayebykersonacid fits comfortably into PWEI maybe due to the fact the two bands came out of the same Grebo scene in the mid 80s. If you like your music of the alternative vein with guitar and sample laden hooks that you can move too then these are the band for you, if not you need to "wise up sucker"!!!
