Sonata Arctica Tickets
The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gethsemene from Great show and great venue Went with my hubby and my father as an early 30th birthday present. Venue was lovely and small. Both the support bands were really good. As always Sonata Arctica were amazing, really interact with the crowd and are just one of my absolute fave bands to see live.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Korruption of Light from Power Metal at its Finisht! If there was ever a more positive, full of life word to exclamate here to describe the positivity and energy of this gig, I'd have probably used it by now. Sonata Arctica are very much in the realms of a veteran band who have been touring extensively in a variety of venues across the world (sometimes between countries) and they certainly know what they're doing. I've always appreciated the fact that SA have had a decent share of success and notoriety, and yet remain humble and willing to perform in the little corners and smaller intimate venues, which in my eyes make for a better show, like here in the Bristol Marble Factory. You can hardly fault SA for having a lack in energy. Far from it! It was pounder after pounder, but maybe that was the problem. As much as I love the new material, I have to admit to expecting a fair few greats from albums gone, that sadly were replaced by quite generic sounding recent tracks. I know every hardcore fan will say that they want to hear the classics, but I know why. As too I can understand why a band would prefer to play fresh, new material so they are on their toes and don't fall into some kind of undead autopilot. It's very much a double edged sword. But regardless, I was hoping to head 'Paid in Full', 'Victoria's Secret' and 'Last Drop Falls' to name but a few. But these are minor issues. Some of my highest praise though, goes to the two support bands, Triosphere and Striker. The former was a true highlight from Norway! The lead front woman, Ida I believe her name was was frankly incredible! What a set of lungs on her! And frankly, very awesome in her style. Very Doro. A tight band with lashings of energy and tight riffage! Striker too, were very good. More thrash than power metal, but 10/10 for effort and passion. The only issue was that it was a little to samey after 3 or 4 songs in. All in all, such a positive and energy filled night! One thing I have always loved about Sonata Arctica gigs is how nice and respectful the fans are. They are truly the best people ;) Plus, my girlfriend thought Ida was hot. 'Nuff said.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hbasford546 from 4th time seeing them and they were awesome Great Setlist, band played brilliantly with a nice mix of new and old and we're having a great time which rubbed off on the crowd. But I would not give 5 star because we found the sound to be a little distorted because if the acoustics at marble factory which was ashame. Plus the gig starting 30mins earlier than the ticket says. Grr
