T-Spoon (or T Spoon) is a Dutch pop/dance band( http://www.t-spoon.com ), founded in 1991 by composer Remy de Groot (aka Prince Peration). In 1991, T-Spoon offered a recording contract by No More Music and had several hits, working alongside guest musicians. In 1994 the US Jazz/Blues vocalist Jean Shy was the featured Singer for the Dutch formation which prior had two Top 10 Hits. T-SPOON featuring JEAN SHY landed a No. 5 Hit with the very jazzy oriented eurodance track "Where R'' U'' Now", and with the remake of the Janis Joplin Song "Mercedes Benz" in a euro reggae style, they made it to No. 7 in the Benelux. In 1996, singer Linda Estelle joined the group, which changed the bands direction into the then-popular happy hardcore-genre. In 1997, they became famous with the summer hit Sex on the beach, which made the charts in The Netherlands as well as Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia, The Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. The song was first released in Ireland following its success in Europe. Here it became one of the biggest hits of the year and peaked at number 2 in the Irish charts. This was unusual as it was a massive hit in Ireland but was not released in the neighbouring UK. Such was the success in the Republic of Ireland that the song was released in the UK at the end of the summer and replicated the success in Ireland also reaching number 2 in the UK charts. It is also frequently mistaken to be created by Vengaboys.
