Banksy - Genius Or Vandal billets et dates

Until the 4th of September, the Centro de Congressos da Alfândega will host the exhibition "BANKSY: GENIUS OR VANDAL?", after Lisbon, it's time for Porto to host the exhibition on the British iconoclast who revolutionized contemporary art and whose identity remains an unknown. The exhibition conceives an immersion in the mysterious universe created by Banksy and proposes an unprecedented journey through more than 70 original works provided by several international private collectors.

BANKSY: Genius or Vandal? It brings us closer to the controversial artistic universe of one of the most influential creators of recent years, through different thematic areas and more than 70 creations that include original works, sculptures, installations, videos and photographs. The pieces, from private collections and with the collaboration of Lilley Fine Art / Contemporary Art Gallery, will be exhibited again in Portugal, for the first time in the city of Porto.
An impressive audiovisual installation specially created for this exhibition will welcome visitors, revealing clues about the mysterious artist, highlighting his most important pieces and framing his unusual career, not without controversy. Among the most recognized works in the exhibition is the original serigraphy of the series “Girl with a Balloon”, similar to the one recently destroyed by the artist himself in an unprecedented action at Sotheby's, the London auction house.

Genius or Vandal? The public decides. Slippery, provocative, mysterious…Banksy, the British artist whose identity is still unknown, is considered one of the leading exponents of contemporary street art. His works, often satirical, address universal issues such as politics, culture or ethics. The aura of mystery that, by choice and necessity, is perpetuated whenever Banksy is mentioned, has made him a mythical figure of our time. From the asphalt trenches, Banksy defied the rules of the contemporary art game. His visual protest connected with a huge and heterogeneous audience and today he is one of the most recognized and admired artists. Banksy has acquired the status of an artist and is one of the most brilliant and important artists of our time. His work is a challenge to the system, a protest, an extremely well-built brand, a mystery, a disobedience to the law… we want every visitor to this exhibition to be able to decide who Banksy really is: a genius or a hooligan? An artist or an entrepreneur? A provocateur or a rebel? Our exhibition aims to show the depth of Banksy's talent, its multiple layers and dimensions so that the visitors themselves are the ones who think and decide. His work, always current and very complete, delves into the soul of each one of us. This sample, like all those previously dedicated to Banksy, is not authorized by the artist, who seeks to defend his anonymity and his independence from the system.
