Rated 5 out of 5 by from The GREATEST lead guitar performance I have ever experienced Starting with God Express, an entertaining support band who left me with a smile on my face this was an awesome evening. Acid Mothers Temple were extremely loud, massively exciting and, in Makoto Kawabata, have the greatest lead guitarist I have ever seen. A truly sensational evening, way exceeding my expectations. GREAT GIG!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Uncompromisingly Hard Psych A gig is a rare thing for me these days, so I was looking forward to this one. I was impressed with the general appearance and feel of the venue, visiting for the first time. I've seen the band before and knew that they are VERY LOUD and so I came prepared with ear protectors - which came in very handy from the first moments of the main act. They started somewhat loosely I must admit, perhaps because the band were busy staffing their merchandise stall, rather than warming up before playing. However, they soon warmed up and tightened up as a band. I was impressed how they commence hard and heavy and somehow managed to sustain this for 2 hours. The general flavour throughout is guitar led, repetitive, heavy, psych riffs, which I love. But their were some lighter moments, such as clean, jangly guitars, harmonica and occasional vocals and I wish their had been more variation like this. I heard a Gong cover in their set, which was fab - and touching given Daevid Allen passed away relatively recently. I would have preferred to hear the vocals more clearly, as well as the synth - which tended to get lost throughout underneath the dominant lead guitar. I think I also caught a Hawkwind cover / sample / riff - or perhaps it was simply that the band are very much like Hawkwind. The drummer was astonishing! How he kept it up is anyone's guess, he must be incredibly physically fit and he was great to watch. It was a shame that the bass player, who was also impressively funky, tended to follow the lead guitar and so the band lost a little tightness and therefore power. Much of the power was generated through volume, particularly the lead guitar. I thought it was a little too loud too be honest, and it would have sounded better with a little less volume, a better mix and a tighter performance. Having said that, Acid Mothers Temple perform uncompromisingly heavy psych rock that frankly batters your head and , if that's what you like - and I most certainly do - there are few better at it and it was a privilege to see them in action!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy flip When you go to an act claim psychedelic rock, avantgarde show, its totally possible that you may expect a level of irony. Nope, shut that door....not only visually were Acid Mothers Temple a site to behold but to go on the journey was nothing but energy. Waves and waves of talent from the entire bad but a definite nod to the exceptional drummer who by the end of the show was exhausted.....that’s what I mean....they gave their all for the experience...on stage and clearly know what it means to push boundaries. The crown were half mouthed open staring at this 5 piece feeling out of body as these guys took you further and further into controlled insanity and what a pleasure to be driven mad and escape the banilty of average at best, expectation of live acts today. Faith restored and thank you AMT.....thank you.
