What people are saying about Dr John Cooper Clarke

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Legend that is Dr JCC My first time seeing the Dr and he was everything expected and more. I knew a lot of his poems and his work before hand but he hit a great balance of chatting in between and reciting his work in his style. Such a funny night and what a cool character.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Night Out Great night out for very little money. Venue cold ok if you were at a music concert, cold sitting listening to a poet. John Cooper Clarke was very funny, but could have been on a little longer. The support act was also very entertaining.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from funny delusions Dr Clarke was good, though suffering from brain addle. His support act was good and may well go far. The venue was very cold; we all kept our coats on. The start was much later than advertised; we had to go for beer nearby.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from And I had no idea he could SING! I dragged non poetic friends along to this and they were blown away. Mike was a bonus. And Dr. John was even better than I thought he'd be only having seen him in short clips on telly. They both seemed a bit bewildered at being south of Watford (although Essex did get a mention) but hey..we're broad minded. We can cope with that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wish I’d seen him 40 years ago! This was my first visit to the venue in its current guise. Choice of drinks on the bar was extremely disappointing. Not even Red Wine!! The two supporting poets were both great, with some superb work. When Mr Clarke got started, which was billed as a 45-50 min slot he came on staggering and rambled at length. By 40 mins, after just two poems and a couple of limericks the rambling was getting repetitive. At over an hour and a quarter in, just starting his fourth poem, which had to be started several times due to his inability to read his own writing. We weren’t the first to leave by a long stretch, and we were followed out by several others. I am a long time fan, but this was my first chance to see him live, i wish now I’d stuck to the cds and YouTube!
