What people are saying about Dr John Cooper Clarke

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genuinely a one off experience....fantastic Bought tickets as a gift for my daughter, we had front row seats which was great. We laughed the whole night. Absolutely wonderful experience getting to see John Cooper Clarke up close and in full swing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Introduced a friend to poetry I attended this event with a friend of many years, we came through the punk era together, which meant that he was familiar with some of Dr Clarke's older work. He would normally never entertain attending an evening of poetry reading, but I persuaded him, and he had a great time. I am a big fan of John Cooper Clarke, and write and perform poetry myself. This evening did not disappoint. Not only the headline performance, which was brilliantly engaging, funny and illuminating, but also the support poets, who were excellent. Especially Mike Garry, I left the hall with one of his books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything that I expected :-) After seeing John on various shows and liking very much what i heard i saw with a few spare days that he was on in Devizes and thought yes I'm having a bit of that and did. Great support and the man himself :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic experience throughout, from the easy purchase of tickets to the performance itself!! Easy transaction and I am doing this sort of thing all the time so know what I'm talking about. The only confusion was over ticket prices, one being cheaper than the other which I assumed to mean standing only but when we arrived we were seated which was great. Perhaps the slightly dearer tickets were for the front 3 rows which we were told not to sit in on the night but this was not made clear on the website. Tickets arrived promptly and I was also able to print off a copy. No problems on the door too. Venue was brilliant and as it's local for me I've been there before. Lovely bar staff and very organised. I was able to organise interval drinks with no hassle whatsoever. Only nuisance was not being able to take my non- alcoholic drink in a plastic cup outside to join my smoker friends but that's modern Britain, Nanny state for you and I don't suppose venues have a lot of choice in the matter. Dr John Cooper Clarke, himself, was incredible. Witty, energetic and a comic/poetic genius. The support acts were also great and I certainly wasn't expecting to see two separate support acts so really good value for money and a brilliant night's entertainment. Would recommend highly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from John was Beautifully Bonkers John Cooper Clark was how I remembered him last time I saw him. Or was he? I can’t remember, it was nearly 40 years ago! Funnily enough the guy I as Sat next to, said he saw him at Glastonbury at the same time on the Pyramid Stage. I digress. John was Beautifully Bonkers. Had me in stitches in places no else laughed (?) I won’t leave it so long to see him again. Both support poets were great to. S. So glad I got a ticket last minute and went

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but no cigar Good evening and JCC has some great lines, the second lady on was superb and we did enjoy the evening. BUT...JCC read his poems so fast as to seem to get them over with and some of the gender humour felt a bit 80’s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly Entertaining Evening John Cooper Clarke was supported by 3 other poets. The Manc poet Mike Garry was fantastic and Simon Day as Geoffrey Allerton was funny. John CC was at his best and even did encores.
