What people are saying about James Taylor Quartet

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Like The Old Days We first saw JTQ at this venue, called The Escape Club then, in 1987 on the release of The Money Spyder as a Quartet and tonight we were treated to the modern JTQ as a quartet and what a treat. Still playing with great skill and energy, James involving the crowd whenever possible. A really great night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hammond Tastic You know what you are getting with JTQ, quality musicianship and a full on performance. The addedd bonus of being backed up by an orchestra and reunited with Noel McKoy the result was a cracking gig. The performance was balanced to newer work which is unserstanable; however as a fan of 3 decades some more of their back catalogue would have been appreciated, "Love the Life" got the hall rocking. Alexandra Palace is an interesting venue, old, slightly decaying and cavernous, with on the whole decent acoustics, however the drums did drown out the band somewhat. On the positive the orchestra really jelled with the band and you know you're on a winner with a harpist and flautist, job done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buzzin' it's been a long time since JTQ played in Brum but for me, it was worth the wait. Excellent musicians who clearly really enjoy what they do. Hopefully the success of this sold-out gig means we won't have to wait too long to see them again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never Disappointed! Over the years I have attended JTQ gigs and it has never been a let down. James still has the same enthusiasm on any given night, that he had all those years ago at the start. My interest goes right back to the days of The Prisoners so really I am a lifelong (adulthood) fan. The venue (1865) was a rough and ready music venue (great for this kind of thing). The audience was disappointingly sparse and unwilling to participate, until James forced the issue later on in the set. I've not been used to that. For the most part the venues have always been banging from the opening number. However, all were appreciative and the vibe was one of harmony with many like minded and friendly people. JTQ deliver, as they always have. A great evening in a good venue. I look forward to more JTQ and more gigs at 1865. Thanks for a great night!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant band who work really hard As always JTQ were in excellent form and the additions to the usual 4 piece line up were superb. The man himself on fine form although the slightly cavernous nature of the Jazz Cafe makes the party atmosphere harder to generate compared to the intimacy of the great Ronnies
