Rated 5 out of 5 by from SEB = Great (as always) / Security staff @ KOKO suck... SEB is always a great gig. This being my third time seeing her. The venue was like a gothic palace though! Really odd place by modern venue standards, but I suppose it had character. Sound was good though. The odious KOKO security staff man who kept telling people to clear off from behind the mixing desk / lighting area was not so good though. He was more than happy to let his 'mates' in to watch the show from that great vantage point though..... He was a total pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sophie Gig review It was the worst experience of my life, although Sophie was excellent. I arrived with wet jeans and when we got in Emma said that she was splitting up with me. I got locked in the ladies loo by mistake and a bouncer caught me and kicked me out although I managed to sneak back in later. During the second set the pop corn machine broke - it had shorted out a fuse - but that was OK as I had a Mr Whippy instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It totally lived up to my expectations! Having seen Sophie do a three track set as one of the numerous acts performing at the "Power in the Park" concert (Southampton) approximately 15 years ago, I have always aspired to attending one where she was the sole act. needless to say, her appearance at the Wedgewood Rooms didn't disappoint!!! Despite me only joining the queue for entry half an hour before the doors opened, there were just some 20 people ahead of me &, consequently, when we were able to gain entry, I ended up in a front row position, barely 2 metres away from where the microphone stand was situated & thus had a very good view of the stage. The evening was opened by the (unadvertised) support act, a female trio, going by the name of "Lock" & they proved to be a real bonus, although their style of music was more 'rock' orientated than Sophie's, they sang well & were very good instrumentalists, their drummer was particularly enthusiastic & clearly had a whale of a time that night! It was evident that they must write all their owns songs, as no cover versions of anyone else's were included in the set, hence I'm sure that , as a result of their appearance, they gained many new followers/fans, myself included. As for Sophie, she was an absolute star, a great live performer who clearly doesn't rely on any gimmicks to enhance her voice & most certainly never 'lip synched' to any of her tracks. My only slight criticism of the night (& this was no fault of the artist), was that I felt that the audio mix was biased more towards the instruments & consequently her singing was a little overpowered by them. However, that was just a minor observation, which certainly didn't mar what turned out to be a cracking evening of song & dance, which lasted for almost 1.5 hours. It is very evident that Sophie must be one of the nicest singers in the UK (if not the world!), she interacted extremely well with the audience & announced that she would remain behind after the show, to meet those who would like to see her & obtain her autograph This was so refreshing, especially given that, in my lifetime, I've met a few so-called 'celebrities' whose attitude to the public stinks, by them being either disinterested towards or rude to their fans, but completely forgetting who put them in their position in the first place! So, to sum up, I can heartily recommend Sophie as a performer, I would have no hesitation in attending a future show of hers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful entertaining evening! Sophie is underrated in my opinion, her voice is unique! I persuaded my daughter to go for me and we both had a great time. Sophie is unpretentious and the Sage@Gateshead was a great venue for her. Loved the set, the cute jump suit and sparkly pants! and the dancing at the end...
