What people are saying about The Magic Of Motown

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Voices drowned out by the band..... We took my wife’s sister to see the show in Consett, last month but came away very disappointed. Early in the performance we were all struggling to hear the words as the lead guitarist and the bass guitarist boomed out so loudly, the singers voices were lost in the ‘boom’ of the band, I left my seat and saw the Consett Empire’s manageress, who said she would look into the problem. However, nothing changed and having complained, received an email from the Empire saying it was out of their hands, the show provides its own sound engineer and equipment. Later that weekend we went to a Workingmans Club and heard a Stevie Wonder tribute - it was very good and 20% of the price!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent venue The concert went well but the doors were opened too late in my view. The sound was good which generated a great atmosphere.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not my favourite night. I went to this event with my partner and the sound quality was very poor and the microphone for one of the lead female singer's didn't work spoiling certain songs so we came out very disappointed after the event

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing night out! Very disappointed with overall performance, Sound quality very poor, loud and muffled with lots of feed back through amps. Was not able to hear clearly the dialogue and the two duets were appalling bad. The only saving grace was the enthusiasm of the audience as everyone new the Motown songs and provided there own vocals to the music performed. The best sound was at the interval when the audience sang along with the advert left running on a big tv screen at the back of the stage. Nearly left during the interval but thought it must get better in second half. It didn’t. Had to sit through hour of poor singing and dance moves. It was a great shame as we were looking forward to a great night out as we are Motown fans and some of the audience were determined to have a good night and probably did despite the sub standard performance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing evening The sound quality was awful, couldn’t hear some of the singers. The sound balance was all out, you could hear the bass guitar and drums over everything else. A very disappointing evening

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Acoustics and mediocre singing Saw this show in Leeds last night and can honestly say it was awful. From the first minute the warm up man came on stage the acoustics were awful... the mics didn’t work and the backing music was way too loud which meant it drown out the singers voices. Some of the songs were good but certainly not the stand out performance I was hoping for. The staging and production could have been a lot better too.
