Last gig of the year.
I booked this gig as my last gig of the year, having spotted it on Facebook. First time at the Crescent, and it didn't disappoint. It started at 9, maybe a support band could have filled the time between, but no great issue with that as the DJ played some great tracks to get everyone in the mood. Kavus Torabi i knew from Gong, Michael York I knew nothing of, and everyone knows Steve Davis. Collectively they are Utopia Strong. From the outset they built up an ambient rhythm that washed over the room and set the tone for the evening. With a backdrop and lighting that matched the mood, they succeeded in winning over a appreciative audience. Whilst It appeared that the set at around 65/70 minutes long was a little disappointingly short, on reflection it was enough and possibly would lead to degree of repetition if longer.
Overall an excellent gig, and I hope to see them again in 2020.
